Online Seed Trading
BCSeeds introduces online seed trading for everyone ...
more
less
This is our first version of online trading and offers
a bare bones trading system enabling traders to enter which
seeds they have to trade and which seeds they are looking for.
Traders can then search for either seeds other traders have
or seeds other traders are looking for. At this point it is
up to the traders to make contact with each other and make
the trade.
We have many improvements in mind. However since we are
a semi-volunteer group with very limited resources we will
wait to see how much interest there is in online trading
before putting more effort into the system.
If you have any interest in this service we urge you to
register and enter even just one seed to show your interest.
Click here to go to the online
trading page.
If you discover any problems please don't hesitate to let us
know through the contact page.
Full Circle Seeds
Full Circle Seeds is operated by Mary-Alice Johnson and
Marika Nagasaka. Full Circle is part of ALM Farm located in Sooke,
on Vancouver Island, which also grows vegetables for local markets
and fine restaurants. Though a beautiful location, the cold climate
in Sooke makes growing much of their seed a challenge

Mary-Alice has been growing seeds for 20 years and has been joined
in the past few years, by apprentice-turned-partner, Marika.
Full Circle Seeds offers close to 200 varieties of seeds including
vegetables, flowers, and herbs, including many rare and heirloom
varieties. Both Mary-Alice and Marika have no doubt about the
importance of growing seed for the local market and they can be
found at all the Vancouver Island Seedy Saturdays as a well as a
few on the mainland.
Mary loves to grow seed that has been given to her by friends or
from those who bring it from their country of origin. Marika
favours growing lettuce seed - which make up a good portion of the
seeds Full Circle offers. Though both experienced seed growers,
Mary-Alice and Marika appreciate all they learn each season,
constantly becoming better seed growers. And they also like to
share that knowledge with others. Both Mary-Alice and Marika
teach local workshops and ALM farm has been training apprentices
for fifteen years. Mary-Alice also teaches an organic growing
course at Camosun College in Victoria and writes regularly for
the Canadian Organic Grower.
ALM Farm is Certified Organic by the Islands' Organic Producers
Association (#401). For more information about Full Circle Seeds,

Monsanto Exposé
Review of the documentary
"The World According to Monsanto:
From dioxin
to genetically modified crops. A multinational with your best
interests at heart."
A film by
Marie-Monique Robin.
This film is a hard hitting look at Monsanto's history and origins in
the chemical industry through its transformation into a biotech
agricultural company and, particularly relevant for this website,
its efforts to stamp out traditional seeds and replace them with
patented genetically engineered seeds. It is a must see for anybody
concerned about preserving our seed heritage and for anybody
concerned about the general issue of food security ...
